Campfire Smoke and how to get rid of it from your clothes

When you go home, you’ll smell like a fire pit. Bonfires, fire pits, and campfires are all fun until you smell like one. Yikes! To get rid of the smell and make your clothes smell good again, try these some of these ways to get rid of the smell and make your clothes smell good again.

It should be aired out.
Before anything else, let the smoky clothes dry. You’d be amazed at how much this simple step can help you. Items can be hung outside on a clothesline or inside on a clothes rack in a well-ventilated area, like in a bedroom. Do not use another method of cleaning for at least 12-24 hours before moving on to another. At the very least, this will cut down on the smell and make it easier to get rid of completely.

In hot water, wash it.
This is by far the easiest way to get your house clean: Clean it! It’s best to use hot water and detergent or dish soap in a wash basin, sink, or clean bucket. Allow the item(s) to soak for 20 to 30 minutes, then rinse them off with water. Machine washable items can be put in the washer with detergent and run through a hot (or as hot as possible) cycle. Repeat, if necessary, and then hang to dry, if you need to (see below).

Drink Some alcohol will help you get the job done faster
Alcohol isn’t just a favorite party drink for many people. It can also be a great way to get rid of bad smells. In fact, it’s the main ingredient in most perfumes and fragrance sprays, and it’s what makes them smell good. The same thing can be used to clean your clothes after a campfire. You only need a bottle of vodka, some warm water, and a spray bottle to make this. Put 1:3 of alcohol to water in the bottle, spray your clothes of choice, and let them dry outside. It will smell like alcohol when it evaporates from the fabric, and that smell will go with it when the alcohol leaves the fabric. If you don’t want to get the laundry drunk, you can use rubbing alcohol instead.

Sun-dry it
This goes with the hot water wash (see above). People can let things dry in the sun if the smell doesn’t go away. A simple way to get the job done, especially if you don’t have a laundry machine. The sun’s heat and ultraviolet rays, as well as the fresh air, will help get rid of the smell. A clothesline or folding rack can help you get the best results. If you can, hang the item(s) outside when it’s safe to do so.

A bag with charcoal inside is what you should do.
It’s a good idea if you don’t want to spend a lot of time cleaning or spraying your clothes. Grab an old sock (preferably one that the “sock monster” hasn’t found a match for). Add activated charcoal to the top and tie it tight. There are usually places where you can buy activated charcoal near you, like hardware stores, organic grocery stores, or online through Amazon or other sites. You can put the stinky clothes in a paper bag or a clean cardboard box. Seal the bag or box tightly and let it sit for at least 24 hours before you open it. In this case, throw away or save for later the charcoal-filled sock. Shake clothes to make sure no charcoal came from the sock and got on them. Finally, wash the things as they say to.

Slice a Lemon.
Lemon juice has citric acid in it, which is very good at getting rid of bad smells. The same is true for most of the other citrus fruits, like limes, oranges, and grapefruits, as well as lemons. There are a lot of cleaning products out there that have citrus ingredients or smells. When it comes to organic cleaners, this is even more true A spray bottle is the best way to get the best results. Mix 1:6 lemon juice and water in it. Spray the offending item with a lot of water. Then, turn the item inside out and do it again. Hang the clothes to dry for a few hours, turning them inside-out and right-side-out as they dry. Repeat if you have to.
